Below you will find pictures of the overhead murals painted throughout the school. Thanks to the efforts of our faculty volunteers with special thanks to Miss Kunz, Mrs. Smith and Miss Wasson for the design and creation. These murals depict the characters from the books we read in our shared reading program. They reinforce the pillars of character education. They are also nice to look at.

Here are some rules for you and me,
See how important they can be.
Always be honest, be kind and fair,
Always be good and willing to share.
These are the rules we all should know,
We follow these rules wherever we go.
Trustworthiness
Responsibility
We begin our year in character education with the pillar of respect.  The students and staff at James Madison Primary are striving to have a "full bucket" each and every day by showing respect for others.
This year the teachers have chosen How Full is Your Bucket?  For Kids, by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer.  The story teaches us that everyone has an invisible bucket.  When the bucket is full, we feel great.  When it is empty, we feel awful.

Caring
As you walk through the halls of JMP, it is hard not to notice the beautiful overhead murals painted throughout the school.  These murals depict the rich characters from literature that we read in association with our character education program.
Felix learns how easy it is to fill the buckets of the people he encounters daily.  Before the day is over, Felix learns that he is a great bucket filler, and that by filling someone else's bucket he also fills his own.
Felix, the main character in the story, begins to see how his interactions with others either fills or empties his bucket.  As the story progresses, he also realizes that everything he says or does to other people fills or empties their buckets as well.
